For the Love of Mom: How Shroomeats Was Born in a Home Kitchen

Some of the most meaningful innovations don’t come from boardrooms—they come from the heart.

That’s exactly how Shroomeats began: not as a business idea, but as a labor of love, born in a home kitchen by our founder, Dissaya, who simply wanted to cook one meal that could bring her whole family together.

One Kitchen, Two Diets, and One Inspired Daughter

Dissaya grew up cooking for her mom and sister. Her mom is a lifelong vegetarian, while her sister has always eaten meat. Like many home cooks, Dissaya found herself juggling different meals for different diets—until she had an idea.

She didn’t want to compromise on flavor. She didn’t want to spend all day in the kitchen. And she didn’t want to make two separate meals for the people she loved.

So, she did what many moms (and mother figures) do best: she got creative.

The First Mushroom Ball

Using simple, whole ingredients—most importantly, shiitake mushrooms—Dissaya crafted a flavorful, umami-rich mushroom ball that her mom loved and her sister couldn’t believe was meatless. It was satisfying, savory, and packed with nutrients. It brought everyone to the same table—and no one felt like they were missing out.

That first mushroom ball became the heart of Shroomeats.

From Family Table to Family Brand

Once friends, extended family, and neighbors started asking for the recipe, Dissaya realized something bigger: her home wasn’t the only one balancing mixed diets. So many families—whether due to allergies, personal choices, or health needs—were looking for a protein that could work for everyone.

So Shroomeats was born: a brand rooted in love, inclusion, and nourishment.

What started as one humble mushroom ball has grown into a full product line:

All are vegan, soy-free, gluten-free, and made with whole mushrooms—no powders, no isolates, just real food that brings people together.

Honoring the Heart of Every Home

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate not only Dissaya’s mom, but all the moms, grandmas, aunts, caregivers, and chosen family who nurture us with food, care, and creativity.

We know mealtime is about more than ingredients—it’s about love, inclusion, and connection. That’s why every product we make comes from that same original spirit: creating food that brings families together, no matter their dietary needs.
