Vegan Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Patties

Our Mushroom Patties aren’t just for burgers, use them as a steak substitute too! Use this recipe to make a flavorful vegan gravy to top your Mushroom Patties and enjoy with any of your favorite sides.

 

Servings: 2

Prep time: 5-7 minutes

Cook time: 15-20 minutes

 

Ingredients:

1 box Shroomeats Mushroom Patties

2 tbsp olive oil

½ cup sliced mushrooms (cremini, button, or baby portobello)

¼ cups diced white onion

3-4 sprigs fresh parsley

1 ½ cups vegetable broth

1 ½ tbsp all-purpose flour

1 tbsp tomato paste

2 tbsp McCormick Montreal Steak seasoning 

  • Or to make your own:
    • 2 tbsp crushed black peppercorns
    • 2 tbsp smoked paprika
    • 2 tbsp kosher salt
    • 1 tbsp garlic powder
    • 1 tbsp onion powder
    • 2 tsp crushed coriander seed
    • 2 tsp crushed mustard seed
    • 2 tsp dried crushed rosemary
    • 2 tsp red pepper flakes
    • Blend well and use

    Salt and pepper to taste



    Instructions for the gravy:

    1. In a saucepan on medium heat, add the olive oil, onions, and mushrooms to saute for 5-7 minutes or until soft. Set aside.
    2. Whisk together vegetable broth, flour, and tomato paste making sure there are no lumps. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
    3. Simmer over medium heat until the mixture thickens, stirring constantly.
    4. Add mushrooms and onions and keep warm until ready to serve.

     

    Instructions for the Mushroom Patties:

    1. In a skillet on medium heat, add olive oil, Mushroom Patties, and steak seasoning to Patties and saute for 5-6 minutes until golden brown. Flip and repeat.
    2. Once the Patties are browned, plate them with your favorite sides.
    3. Top the Mushroom Patties with the gravy, garnish with fresh parsley, and enjoy!
