Lunar New Year Dumplings with Mushroom Shred-It

Lunar New Year Dumplings with Mushroom Shred-It

This Lunar New Year rings in the year of the snake! The snake represents good fortune, procreation, harvest, and spirituality. There are many traditions around this holiday, including certain foods. One such is dumplings for wealth.

Shroomeats Mushroom Shred-It Dumpling

Servings: 6-8

Prep time: 30-45 minutes

Cook time: 15-25 minutes

What you'll need:

2 boxes of Shroomeats Mushroom Shred-It

20 dumpling wrappers

1 cup cabbage shredded

¼ cup green onion chopped

1 garlic clove finely diced

½ tbsp ginger finely diced

2 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp sesame oil

2 tsp cooking oil

¼ cup water

Let's get started:

  1. Prep the ingredients. In a large mixing bowl, add all the ingredients except the dumpling wrappers and cooking oil. Mix the ingredients together well.
  2. Handle the dumpling wrapper as instruction on the packaging.
  3. Add 1 tbsp of filling in the center of one dumpling wrapper, fold over to pinch the top center together and fold in the remaining lose edge to seal the dumpling. Continue this until you’ve used all of the wrappers or filling, whichever comes first.
  4. Heat a pan on high and add the cooking oil.
  5. Gently place as many dumplings that will fit while leaving space in between to not touch. Cook uncovered for 4-6 or until browned. Watch for oil splatters!
  6. Add ¼ cup of water, quickly cover and turn the heat to low.
  7. After 3-5 minutes of steaming your dumplings are ready to gently be removed from the pan and served. Repeat steps 4-7 as many times as you need to cook the dumplings.
